Chemical Engineering Laboratories

The chemical engineering teaching laboratories house the state-of-the-art instruments which provide practical engineering experiences to our students. The research laboratory serves the faculty and students research needs. Some instruments have dual application in both teaching and research activities.

Transport Phenomena Laboratory

In this lab (course CENG 3211), students perform hands-on flow and heat transport experiments, collect relevant data, and analyze and interpret the collected data to draw engineering conclusions. A number of fundamental demonstration experiments are also included to further strengthen understanding of the students on the underlying science principles.

The Transport Phenomena Laboratory is located in room 3.211 on the third floor of the engineering building.

Unit Operations Laboratory

In this lab (course CENG 4211), students perform more advanced practical experiments on separation, reaction engineering, and process control. They collect relevant data, and analyze and interpret the collected data to draw engineering conclusions.

The Unit Operations Laboratory is located in room 3.209 on the third floor of the engineering building.

Research Laboratory

The Chemical Engineering Research Laboratory serves the faculty members to perform research in their specialized area and also by involving interested students in undergraduate research to engage them in more advanced topics.

The Research Laboratory is housed in room 2.211 on the second floor of the engineering building and space is currently shared with petroleum engineering.

Computation Laboratory

The 3rd floor of the engineering building has one computer lab (room 3.103). This laboratory is equipped with the high-performance computers to service the computer programming-related courses and for general use by CENG students and faculty.

The lab includes high-level language programming, MATLAB/SIMULINK as well as software packages (Aspen Plus, Aspen Hysys, ProMax) for use by CENG students and faculty.
