The Child and Family Studies program at UT Permian Basin focuses on the development of children and families as they grow and change. Students can choose from three different tracks: Learning and Development, Social Agencies, or Applied Research.
Graduates of our our program will gain skills to work with children and their families in a variety of settings.

Why should you study Child and Family Studies?
UTPB has a historical program and deep-rooted history in the Permian Basin. The Child and Family Studies program will help students develop the skills needed to interact with children and families. The program sets graduates up with the skills for working with children and their families in a variety of settings.
What are my job prospects?
After earning a degree in Child and Family Studies, students can have a career in a variety of different industries including:
- Teaching
- Early childhood program management
- Social agencies
- Non-profit foundations
- Service/organization related to children and families
What industry specific skills will I learn?
Students will take coursework focusing on development of children, roles children play in our overall society, diverse relationships within families, multicultural perspectives of the family, and methods used to research issues related to children and their families.
