Learning and Development Degree

Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Child and Family Studies – Learning and Development

The Bachelor of Arts in Child and Family Studies degree completion program is designed to provide a sound academic foundation for persons planning to work with and/or study children and families in various contexts. The Learning and Development Track focuses on: the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development of children; issues that involve relationships among families with children; and atypical development of children.

Degree Requirements

  • Complete at least 120 sch for the BS degree. At least 30 sch must be completed at UT Permian Basin and at least 24 of the last 30 must be taken at UT Permian Basin.
  • Obtain at least a “C” grade in all courses counting toward the major. Maintain at least a grade point average of 2.0 in all courses applicable toward the B. A. degree.
  • Students must complete 18 semester credit hours of a minor in a related field of choice.

B.A. in Child and Family Studies – Learning and Development Requirements

  • Students must complete 37 semester credit hours of Child and Family Studies coursework.
  • Students enrolled in this track must complete student teaching or CHLD 4399.
  • Students must choose a course from each of the following groups: Development, Family Issues, and Exceptionalities.
