Chemistry Bachelor's Degree
Bachelor of Science (BS) in Chemistry
The Chemistry program leading to the Bachelor of Science degree at UT Permian Basin follows the guidelines of the American Chemical Society. Our curriculum provides broad and comprehensive training in all areas of modern chemistry including the fundamentals of chemical theory and practice through scientific investigation, laboratory experience and research opportunities. Courses span analytical, biochemistry, inorganic, organic, and physical chemistry.

Degree Requirements
- The minimum total credits required for a B.S. in Chemistry is 120.
- All required and elective courses must be completed with a grade of “C-” or better.
- All candidates for this degree must fulfill the Basic Education requirements before moving on to chemistry specific courses.
Chemistry Major Requirements
- Students must complete 42 semester credit hours, at least 26 of those credit hours must be upper level courses.
- Courses students will be required to take include: general chemistry, organic chemistry, analytical chemistry, physical chemistry, biochemistry and inorganic chemistry.
- Included in the degree plan are 7 semester credit hours of advanced chemistry electives.
- Students are required to elect a minor for a total 20 semester credit hours. Twelve of those hours must be upper level courses.
