Degree Requirements

  • The minimum total credits for a B.S. in Geology—Petroleum Plans is 120.
  • All required and elective courses must be completed with a grade of "C-" or better.
  • All candidates must fulfill the Core Curriculum, Support Science, and Geology Major requirement.

Geology—Petroleum Geology Concentration Major Requirements

  • The Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Geology—Petroleum Geology Concentration requires 51 upper level semester credit hours, at least 24 of them must be from UT Permian Basin.
  • Students are required to take a GEOL 4600 Summer Field Geology Course.
  • No minor is required for students pursuing the BS Geology Petroleum Geology Concentration
