Accelerate Your Geology Career with UTPB's AMP Program
At UT Permian Basin, our Geology Accelerated Master’s Program (AMP) empowers high-achieving undergraduates to begin graduate-level coursework early, enabling them to complete both their bachelor’s and master’s degrees in a shortened timeframe. AMP students take 3–6 semester credit hours of graduate geology courses while finishing their undergraduate degree and then seamlessly transition to the MS program to fulfill the remaining requirements.
To qualify for this pathway, students must meet GPA benchmarks, work closely with both undergraduate and graduate advisors, and maintain graduate-level performance standards.
The AMP is an ideal option for motivated geology students who wish to save time and cost while pursuing advanced specialization in Earth sciences.

Eligibility Requirements:
- Enrollment in a UTPB undergraduate geology program or allied STEM program
- Cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 and 3.25 in undergraduate major
- 30 or fewer credits remaining to earn your bachelor’s degree
- Faculty approval from the department AMP coordinator
- No GRE required for AMP students
