Each student pursues one emphasis; Choral/Vocal, Strings, or Wind/Percussion based on their primary instrument or voice. Students completing the degree are prepared to apply for EC-12 music teaching certificate through the Texas Education Association.

Degree Requirements

  • The minimum total credits for a Bachelor of Music (Music Teacher Certification [Choral/Vocal, Strings, Wind/Percussion]) is 127.
  • At least 30 semester credit hours must be taken at UT Permian Basin.
  • All required and elective courses must be completed with a grade of “C-“ or better.
  • Students must complete 48 semester credit hours of upper-level music courses.
  • A minor is not required for this degree.
