The Healthcare Leadership Track is part of the Bachelor of Applied Arts and Science (B.A.A.S.) degree at The University of Texas Permian Basin, designed for students who want to advance into leadership roles within healthcare organizations. This program builds professional management and leadership skills while strengthening students’ existing technical or applied education.
Through healthcare-focused coursework, students develop decision-making, communication, and organizational leadership skills that are directly applicable to today’s healthcare environments. The Healthcare Leadership Track is ideal for individuals working in or aspiring to manage healthcare operations, clinical support teams, or administrative functions across a variety of healthcare settings.
The B.A.A.S. degree offers defined tracks to support different career goals, including Healthcare Leadership. While the degree title listed on the diploma and transcript is Bachelor of Applied Arts and Science (B.A.A.S.), the Healthcare Leadership Track allows students to tailor their coursework toward leadership development within the healthcare industry.
B.A.A.S. Degree Requirements
To earn a Bachelor of Applied Arts and Science (B.A.A.S.) with a Healthcare Leadership Track, students must complete 120 semester credit hours distributed across the following key areas:
- 42 hours of General Education courses
- Up to 30 hours of approved technical or applied coursework from an Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree or equivalent
- 42 hours of upper-level coursework, with at least 30 hours completed at UTPB
- Healthcare Leadership Track coursework focused on management and leadership in healthcare settings
- An approved minor
