Exercise Science Programs

Moving forward

The Exercise Science program, formerly known as Kinesiology, at UT Permian Basin is in an exciting era of change. It, along with the Athletic Training program, has moved under the Department of Human Performance. In 2020, these areas moved into the state-of-the-art D. Kirk Edwards Family Human Performance Center. Students have access to cutting-edge, professional-grade equipment including a biomechanics lab equipped with the latest tools to prepare students for a professional career.

The Exercise Science program teaches the science behind the responses and adaptations to exercise. It includes components of nutrition, health and fitness, and cardiovascular wellness.  You will learn how the body adapts to exercise, how to tailor programs to individual patients’ needs, and how to use learned skills as medicine for your patients and customers.
