Kinesiology is the science of human movement. Our students study the mechanics and mystery of the human body, including how injuries happen, how to treat them, and how to keep athletes healthy.

We are in an exciting new era for Kinesiology at The University of Texas Permian Basin. The department will be moving into a state-of-the-art facility in 2020. The new building will give students access to cutting-edge professional grade equipment including hot and cold hydrotherapy pools and a biomechanics lab equipped with the latest tools to prepare students for a professional career.

What can I do with a kinesiology degree?

Whether in the classroom or lab, on the playing fields or in the community, our students have many opportunities to grow professionally while contributing to the culture of the University and the greater Permian Basin. Students who major in Kinesiology often go into health-related fields. Our degree plans set students up for careers as athletic trainers, chiropractors, occupational therapists, coaches, and physical therapists.

The top 10 major transferable skills that a student will possess include reading comprehension, active listening, leadership, writing, speaking, mathematics, science, critical thinking, complex problem solving, and operations analysis.
