There are individual web pages for the various types of financial aid. You may link to those pages by using the navigation bar on the left. Here is a brief description of the types of financial aid.

Grants

Federal or state funds which are awarded based on financial need of the student. Grants do not have to be paid back.

Application forms: FAFSA with priority deadline of July 15th in Fall or November 15th in Spring.

Loans

Borrowed funds need to repaid. The loan offer amounts made on the student’s portal can be canceled/not accepted if financial need is met or reduced/adjusted to meet financial need. The full amount of loan does not need to be accepted.

Other Requirements: Master Promissory Note (MPN) and Entrance Counseling to be completed on studentaid.gov

Scholarships

Funds that do not have to be paid back. The criteria vary. Not all are need- based or academically-based. Please go to the that web page for more information.

State Exemptions/Waivers 

Tuition exemptions.

Falcon Promise Program

UTPB program for students from families making $45,000 per year or less; will cover tuition and mandatory fees.

Earn-In Scholarship 

UTPB program for residential undergraduate students that do not receive a scholarship as part of their admission to the university but achieve a 3.25 GPA or greater and complete 30 hours in an academic year. Application is required.

Additional information for student that received scholarship certificates for UTPB pre-college or duel credit programs. Students would have had to receive these certificated prior to attending UTPB. There is no way to apply or be considered for these awards unless there was previous involvement in these programs and a certificate was received.
