Suicide Prevention

Help is Available 24/7

If You Have Had Thoughts of Harming Yourself

Suicidal thoughts, like all thoughts, are temporary. Suicide is forever. If you have been thinking about harming yourself, reach out for support immediately. You are not alone. Many people have been where you are now and help is available. Though it might not seem like it at the time, things can get better.

If you’re in crisis, go to the local emergency department. If you have a psychological emergency after office hours, call (432) 552-4600 and choose option 2. You will be able to speak to a counselor, even after regular hours.

For ongoing support, please schedule an appointment with a UTPB professional. See Counseling and Psychological Services for more information.

If Someone You Know is in Danger

If someone you know is struggling, call 911 or take them to the nearest emergency room. You can also help set them up with counseling at See Counseling and Psychological Services.
