UTPB is committed to supporting foster care alumni in achieving educational success. We aim to do this by focusing on the academic, financial, career, and social well-being of each student, enabling them to arrive and thrive on campus.

Academic Support
Student Success Center offers academic support through specialized academic advising and support programs that offer resources such as study skills and writing labs, academic coaching, face-to-face and on-line tutoring.
Financial Support
The Office of Financial Aid provide students the financial resources and coaching necessary to manage multiple sources of financial aid, grants, tuition and fee waivers and other forms of student income. Financial Literacy programs offers workshops and personal and confidential consultations help guide students to meet their short and long-term financial goals and ensure they maintain a budget that will allow them to have the financial resources they need throughout the year.
The State College Tuition Waiver is a state law that exempts or waives payment of tuition and fees at state supported colleges or universities for foster youth currently or formerly in the conservatorship of the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) and for those adopted from DFPS.
Job Support and Career Development
Many students work part-time at jobs both on and off campus to help pay the costs associated with college. Career Services can help connect students with taking a career assessment, receiving help writing an effective resume, practicing interviewing skills, and finding internships.
