University of Texas Permian Basin New Logo
The new logo will be used for academics and the Falcon shield will remain for athletic teams and sprit groups

The University of Texas Permian Basin has officially unveiled our new academic logo. Our institutional mark includes imagery from two unique Permian Basin concepts. The letters U, T, P, B can be found within the abstract shield, and it also mimics the oil field road patterns for which this region is known.

We are so proud of the work we’re doing in the Permian Basin. This new institutional mark represents our commitment to serve this region by providing a quality education. It is also a nod to our history and the oil and gas industry. We remain laser focused on helping students succeed, advancing creativity and knowledge, and using our resources to impact generations of families,” said UT Permian Basin President, Dr. Sandra Woodley."

New Academic Logo Reveal

The Falcon shield is not going anywhere and will remain a big part of our identity. The Falcon is  the logo used for our athletic teams as well as spirit groups on campus. However, it became clear that we needed a unique way to represent the academic side of our community. UT Permian Basin hired Torch Creative to help in the creation of the new mark. After a year of exploring different themes, highlighting elements that are important to us, and engaging many constituents on campus, our academic mark was created. We are certain our new logo will become well known in West Texas and beyond.

The University of Texas System Board of Regents approved the institutional mark back in May 2021. The University has started to slowly rollout the new logo across campus.
