The University of Texas Permian Basin is proud to announce Dr. Lyndsay Eiben has been named Director of Bands. In this expanded role, Dr. Eiben will provide leadership for UTPB’s bands program while continuing to serve as an assistant professor of music.
As Director of Bands, Dr. Eiben will oversee all aspects of the bands program, including the winds and percussion programs, while continuing her work as a dedicated educator and accomplished musician.
“We are pleased that Dr. Eiben will be leading our bands program,” said Dr. Christopher Morrow, Dean of the College of Arts & Humanities. “Though she has only been at UTPB a couple of years, she has already made an enormous impact on student success. She is a dedicated, student-first educator who is ideally poised to take our bands program to the next level.”
A native of Odessa, Dr. Eiben is a distinguished musician, educator, and flutist. She graduated from Permian High School before earning her Bachelor and Master of Music Performance degrees from West Texas A&M University. She completed her Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the prestigious University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music.
Prior to joining UTPB, Dr. Eiben spent a decade teaching in ECISD, including serving as Associate Director of Bands at both Nimitz Middle School and Permian High School. Under her leadership, students achieved notable honors, including selection to the 6A TMEA All-State Bands and top ratings at UIL competitions.
In addition to her passion for teaching, Dr. Eiben maintains an active performance career. She currently serves as principal flutist for the West Texas Symphony and West Texas Winds and is a sought-after clinician and lecturer across the region.
UTPB is excited for the future of its bands program under Dr. Eiben’s leadership and looks forward to her continued impact on students and the music community across the Permian Basin.
