Mesa Building UTPB
This strategic restructuring aligns academic programs to better serve students and enhance interdisciplinary opportunities.

The University of Texas Permian Basin is proud to announce a reorganization of its academic
colleges, effective July 1, 2025. This strategic restructuring aligns academic programs to better serve
students and enhance interdisciplinary opportunities.

UTPB currently has five academic colleges, and that number will remain the same. However, several
colleges have been reorganized and renamed to create stronger academic alignment and better
support student success.

The changes include three new academic colleges:
• College of Arts & Humanities includes the following majors: art, music, Spanish, English,
history, communication, and social sciences.
• College of Health Sciences: nursing, psychology, social work, biology, human performance,
and community and family health.
• College of Engineering & Sciences: mechanical, chemical, electrical, petroleum, and civil
engineering alongside mathematics, computer science, chemistry & physics, and
geosciences.

The College of Business and College of Education will remain unchanged.

“This reorganization is designed to reflect our mission to provide students with a clear academic path, increase collaboration among faculty, and position UTPB for long-term academic excellence,” said Dr. Raj Dakshinamurthy, Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs. “These changes
ensure our academic structure better aligns with the strengths of our faculty and the interests of our
students.”

There will be no disruption to current students, their degree plans, or academic progress. This new
structure is designed with student success in mind, making it easier for students to explore related
fields, transition between majors within a college, and receive more cohesive advising and academic
support.
