Administrative Assistant Workshop
The workshop not only provided knowledge and tools, but also fostered a sense of community and recognition.

UTPB hosted a successful Administrative Assistant Workshop, offering valuable training on new systems, processes, and procedures.

Workshop

The workshop was a collaboration between Academic Affairs and Human Resources.

“These professionals play a crucial role in the smooth operation of University activities, yet their access to targeted professional development is often limited. This workshop series aimed to fill that gap by equipping them with practical skills and a broader understanding of University operations,” said UTPB Provost and Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs, Dr. Raj Dakshinamurthy.

About 25 participants took part in the six-session series. The workshop covered a range of critical tasks including budget management, formal and informal communications, office management, compliance, onboarding procedures, and more.

“By improving their proficiency and confidence in these areas, the series empowered them to support their departments more effectively, streamline workflows, and reduce processing delays. Additionally, sessions on communication, collaboration, and soft skills helped foster stronger interdepartmental relationships and enhanced their ability to navigate complex organizational structures,” added Dr. Dakshinamurthy.

Each presentation was delivered in a positive and uplifting manner, resulting in encouraging feedback from not only the administrative assistants but their supervisors as well.

“We want to ensure administrative assistants feel supported and valued. Without them, many things would not get done,” said UTPB Director of Human Resources, Ron Appling.

The workshop not only provided knowledge and tools, but also fostered a sense of community and recognition. Staff who participated received a certificate of completion.

“More than just training, this series reflected our institutional commitment to investing in our people and cultivating leadership and excellence at every level,” said Dr. Dakshinamurthy.
