UTPB and H-E-B have relaunched their partnership with a new English Language Learner program, helping employees strengthen skills and advance professionally.
The University of Texas Permian Basin and H-E-B are proud to announce the return of their partnership with a new focus for the 2025-2026 year: an English Language Learner (ELL) course for H-E-B partners (employees).
Starting Tuesday, August 19, 31 H-E-B partners will participate in a non-credit course. The classes give partners the opportunity to strengthen their English skills and advance their professional development.
“H-E-B and UTPB share a commitment to supporting our community and helping people achieve their goals,” said Dr. Becky Spurlock, Senior Vice President for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management. “This program provides a meaningful opportunity for partners to enhance their skills and prepare for future success.”
Dr. Jennifer Seybert, Dean of the College of Education, added, “We are proud to continue this partnership with H-E-B. Offering ELL courses demonstrates how higher education can work hand-in-hand with local businesses to empower employees and make a lasting impact on the community.”
Representatives from H-E-B corporate and local stores attended the first night of class, with a program graduation scheduled for Thursday, November 13, in the UTPB Library. The initiative highlights the shared commitment to employee growth, community collaboration, and lifelong learning.
