The University of Texas Permian Basin hosted its annual State of the University event on Tuesday, April 5, at the Petroleum Club of Midland, highlighting a year of growth, student success, and community impact.
During the event, presented by SouthWest Bank, University leaders reflected on major milestones, sharing details about student success and academic progress. They shared how partnerships with industry, donor support, and engagement with local organizations are helping strengthen the regional workforce and build a brighter future for West Texas.
“At The University of Texas Permian Basin, our mission is clear: we want to create pathways to success, serve our region, and prepare students for meaningful lives and careers,” Dr. Sandra Woodley, UTPB president, said.
2025-2026 Highlights
- The 2025 Scholarship Ball raised $1 million to directly support student success. The University also met its $1 million goal for the Champions Fund, supporting athletic programs.
- UTPB ranks as the second most affordable college in Texas.
- 72% of students received financial aid, with more than $51 million awarded throughout 2024-2025.
- 74% of UTPB graduates remain in the Permian Basin to live and work.
- Total annual enrollment reached 7,400 students.
- UTPB ranks in the top three among UT System institutions for highest median salary of graduates.
- A transformative grant was awarded to launch the Civil Engineering program, expanding academic opportunities in a critical field for the region.
