On Wednesday, April 9, The University of Texas Permian Basin hosted its annual State of the University event at the Odessa Country Club. Presented by SouthWest Bank, the event celebrated the University's remarkable progress over the past year and offered a glimpse into an exciting future filled with opportunity. 

By the Numbers: 2024–2025 Highlights

  • 1,616 students received free tuition through the Falcon Free program

  • 70% of UTPB graduates remain in the Permian Basin to live and work

  • 24% of all regional jobs are directly connected to UTPB’s presence

  • UTPB ranks in the Top 3 UT System institutions for highest median salary among graduates

  • The University has awarded degrees to 30,445 alumni—a 39% increase since 2016

  • The 2024 Scholarship Ball raised $500,000 for student support

  • The Champions Fund is nearing its $1 million goal, with 75% of the total raised

  • Major campus renovation projects are in progress, with more on the horizon

Looking Ahead

President Woodley also shared bold plans for an upcoming academic reorganization, which includes renaming several college to better align with key industry sectors and regional workforce needs. This strategic shift positions UTPB to better serve the evolving economy of West Texas. 

Attendees were also treated to live performances from UTPB's talented music students, showcasing the vibrant student life and cultural excellence found on campus.
