The University of Texas Permian Basin is committed to maintaining a learning and working environment that is free from discrimination based on sex in accordance with Title IX of the Higher Education Amendments of 1972 (Title IX), which prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in educational programs or activities; Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (Title VII), which prohibits sex discrimination in employment; and the Campus Sexual Violence Elimination Act (SaVE Act). Sexual misconduct is a form of sex discrimination and will not be tolerated. As stated in the definition, sexual misconduct includes sexual harassment, sexual violence, sexual assault, stalking, domestic violence and/or dating violence. Individuals who engage in sexual misconduct and other inappropriate sexual conduct will be subject to disciplinary action.
Where to Get Help
- The Office of the Dean of Students can assist students in reporting sexual harassment or sexual misconduct. Contact the Office of the Dean of Students at (432) 552-2600.
- The UTPB Police Department should be notified of incidents. It is the option of the victim to press charges or not. Contact the Police Department at (432) 552-2786.
- Confidential: Student Counseling Services can assist students dealing with sexual harassment or sexual assault. All interactions are kept confidential. Contact the Counseling Center at (432) 552-2365.
- Confidential Counseling: Free and confidential mental health and wellbeing support available to students 24/7/365. Access to clinical counselors that have experience working with students and speak multiple languages.

- Medical Center Health System (MCH) serves as the local SANE (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner) provider in Odessa. Contact MCH at (432) 640-4000. Midland Memorial Hospital serves as the local SANE provider in Midland. Contact Midland Memorial Hospital at (432) 221-1111.
- RAINN (Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network) is an anti-sexual violence organization and charity. This organization provides lots of information and resources on sexual assault and sexual harassment.
