Meet the Senior VP for Business Affairs

Cesar Valenzuela is the Senior Vice President for Business Affairs and Chief Financial Officer at The University of Texas Permian Basin, where he leads the university's business and finance operations with a commitment to excellence. With a strong background in accounting and management, Cesar has over 30 years of experience in higher education administration, guiding various departments to financial success and operational efficiency.

Cesar earned his bachelor's degree in accounting from Sul Ross State University in 1982, followed by a master’s degree in management in 1991. He became a licensed Certified Public Accountant in 1985 and continues to maintain this credential. His dedication to professional development is further highlighted by his completion of the SACUBO Business Management Institute.

Throughout his career, Cesar has held several key positions, including Staff Accountant, Assistant Controller, Controller, and Vice President for Finance/Business Affairs. With over two decades of experience as a Chief Financial Officer, including at Brewster County Memorial Hospital, Cesar brings a wealth of knowledge and leadership to his role at UTPB, where he has served since October 1, 2018.
