The Master's in Literacy program will equip you with the tools you need to become an even better teacher. Students will gain specialized skills to assess reading abilities, create intervention plans, and become a literacy leader on a school campus.

Why should you study Literacy?

This program is designed for teachers who are already in the classroom who desire to further their literacy education.

Degree candidates will gain a better understanding of how children learn to read and develop skills to increase literacy. The methods they learn can easily be applied or developed into a plan for their classrooms.

What are my job prospects?

By earning an MA in Literacy, you will help students improve their reading abilities and teach students how to understand written words. Job prospects include:

What industry-specific skills will I learn?

Students will strengthen their understanding of literacy, effectively serve a broader spectrum of students, and prepare reading specialists for teaching, diagnosis, instructional leadership and staff development. 

Our program offers a Master’s Degree in Literacy, plus the potential for a Reading Specialist Certification. 

Add two more courses and you may also qualify for the English as a Second Language (ESL) supplemental teacher certification.
