Test
  1. Completed U.T. Permian Basin Undergraduate (Freshman or Transfer) Application at ApplyTexas.
    • Freshman (First-time student) – a student that has just graduated from high school and has no college or university course work
    • Transfer – a student that has attended another U.S. college/university or foreign university and has college level course work
  2. U.S. $40 application fee (by credit card, bank draft, or U.S. check)
  3. Official copies of all transcripts, certificates, diplomas, and degrees, must be translated and sent directly to the Admissions Office. The UTPB Admissions office does not provide in-house transcript evaluation. Make sure to submit all the required paperwork at least 120 days prior to the beginning of the semester of admissions.

  4. International students whose native language is not English must submit proof of English language proficiency. Please provide evidence of proficiency based on one of the test scores listed below. The scores must be official and come to the Admissions Office (admissions@utpb.edu) directly from the testing service.
    • TOEFL: Minimum score for admission consideration is 79(iBT) or 550 (pBT). Information concerning the TOEFL may be obtained by writing to: TOEFL, Box 899, Princeton, NJ 08540 (The University of Texas of the Permian Basin institution number: 6914)
    • IELTS: A minimum score of 6.5 band score with 6.0 in each subsection. Send your IELTS scores to admissions@utpb.edu
    • Duolingo English Test (DET) Scores: A minimum DET score of 100, sent directly to UTPB Admissions from the testing center or use institutional number: 276692
    • Students from the following countries are not required to submit English proficiency scores: America Samoa, Australia, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Canada (except Quebec), Dominica, Grenada, Grand Cayman, Guyana, Ireland, Jamaica, Liberia, New Zealand, Trinidad/Tobago, Turks and Caicos Islands, United Kingdom, U.S. Pacific Trust. “For purposes of the TOEFL or IELTS requirement, international applicants are exempt only if they are from a country where English is the sole official language and the primary conversational language of the country. In some countries, English is but one of the officially recognized languages or it is not the primary language used to communicate outside of the classroom.”
  5. Bacterial Meningitis Vaccination requirement:
    • Must show evidence of having received the Bacterial Meningitis vaccination or qualified exemption. (Students who are 22 years of age or older or planning to take online courses only - no campus-based courses- are exempt.)
  6. If you would like to defer your admission to a different semester and your application is not a year old, please email the Admissions Office at admissions@utpb.edu. If your admissions application is over a year old, please fill out a new admissions application. 

Required documents for I-20:

  1. Copy of passport for the applicant as well as for any dependents (spouse, child). This is only needed if seeking an I-20 for an F-1 Visa.
  2. Financial Support form with proof of resources
    • All fees are subject to change. For dependents to be included on the I-20AB, add $4,000 per academic year for your spouse and $4,000 per academic year for each child. Spouses of F-1 visa holders are not permitted to work in the U.S. under any circumstances.
  3. Transfer Documents (I-20)
    • If you are an international transfer student from another U.S. college or university, you must have the college/university transfer your I-20 to U.T. Permian Basin.

Health/Medical Insurance Requirement

  • All international students on a non-immigrant (F-1) visa status attending UT Permian Basin are required by the UT System Board of Regents to have continuous medical insurance policy compliant with the federal Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA).
  • The UT Student Health Insurance Plan (UT SHIP) meets the new requirements. Enrollment in UT SHIP is automatic each semester and the insurance premium is automatically charged to your tuition and fee account when you register for classes. No action is required to be enrolled in UT SHIP except to ensure that your contact email and mailing address are always current in MyUTPB.
  • The UT System has established criteria by which an international student can request a waiver to the student health insurance plan by providing alternate health insurance coverage. In order to be approved for a waiver, your alternate health coverage must meet or exceed the requirements as set in the System regulation and be PPACA compliant.
