  • Items checked out must be returned in good condition by the borrower on or before the due date to avoid fines.
  • The total number of library materials patrons can have checked out at one time varies depending on the patron's classification with the University.
  • Two computers with open access are on the second floor. No printing, but saving to a USB flash drive is available.
  • Library laptops, hotspots, DVDs, CDs, bound periodicals, and archives, and special collections do not circulate.

Library Fines, Fees, and Payment

  • All communication from the library is via email. Please keep your email address up to date! If you do not have an email, make sure that we have a current phone number.
  • The library sends two (2) overdue notices. The third overdue notice is a bill for the replacement costs of the item.
  • Patrons may renew books by calling or coming to the Access Services Desk.
  • When an item is 14 days overdue, the library will charge the patron for replacing it. When a patron exceeds the grace period, substantial fines and fees accrue.
  • If a patron loses an item, they should notify the library immediately to halt the accrual of fines or fees.
  • Borrowing privileges will be suspended until outstanding fines are paid.
  • The patron will be billed for the replacement of the item, processing fees, and accrued fines as follows:
    • A non-refundable processing fee of $10.00
    • Cost of replacement or repair for any damaged material, as determined by the library
    • The overdue fine is $0.25 per day per item, as applicable

**Payment of fees can be made through the Accounting Office by phone or in person. Payment can be made in cash, check, debit, or credit card.

Appeals

Access Services will research library charges at a patron's request. The form is available at the Access Services Desk. The library will investigate and provide follow-up information.
Examples of reasons that do not constitute a valid basis for changing fines or fees include such things as:

  • Change of Address. University policy requires that students notify the university as soon as possible when their addresses and phone numbers change.
  • Not knowing circulation policies
  • Not agreeing with library policies
  • Forgetting the due date
  • Loaning the material to a third party
  • Allowing another person to use your ID card
  • Arrangements can be made with the Accounting Office to enable students who owe library fees totaling more than $100 to pay in installments. Inquire at the Accounting Office about this.
