  • Hazlewood Benefits: Hazlewood benefits are handled through the Veteran Services Office. Please contact us at veteranservices@utpb.edu  or 432-552-2830 for more information.
    • Hazelwood Application Complete this form if you are a first-time UT Permian Basin user or a student with a break between enrollments.
    • Hazelwood Continued Enrollment Application Complete this form if there is no break between enrollments at UT Permian Basin.
    • Recipients of CH 33 must have a GI Bill rating under 100% (COE must be submitted) or show documentation of denial/exhaustion.
    • Legacy recipients cannot be 26 years or older
      • If the student turns 26 before the beginning of the semester for which the Hazlewood request is made, they are not eligible.
      • If the student turns 26 during the semester for which they requested Hazlewood, they are eligible for the remainder of the semester.
    • Disability recipients must turn in a 100% disability rating letter within one calendar year of today's date.
  • Hazelwood Act Fall 24 Submission Deadline: Present - December 13th. Once the submission deadline has passed, you cannot apply for retroactive Hazelwood Act benefits and will be responsible for paying the University for tuition expenses.

Satisfactory Academic Progress

Policy for Federal VA Education Benefits

Students receiving any of the Federal VA Educational Benefits listed below are required to maintain satisfactory Academic progress by earning a minimum 2.0 cumulative grade point average (CGPA), complete at least 67% of the courses attempted, and cannot exceed credit hours above 150 percent of their required degree plan at any institution of higher education to include all registered, earned and attempted hours:

  • Post 9/11 GI Bill® (Chapter 33)
  • Montgomery GI Bill® – Active Duty (Chapter 30)
  • Montgomery GI Bill® – Selected Reserve (Chapter 1606)
  • VA Vocational Rehabilitation (Chapter 31)
  • Dependents Educational Assistance (Chapter 35)
