If you’ve been on UT Permian Basin’s campus, you’ve definitely seen Matt Plummer’s work. As the University’s Creative Director and Brand Manager, his designs are everywhere, from campus banners to athletics branding. But Matt’s talents reach far beyond UTPB.

Matt Plummer with wife and daughterFor the second year in a row, Matt has designed the official t-shirt for the Muscular Dystrophy Association’s (MDA) Shamrocks Campaign, the nation’s largest St. Patrick’s Day fundraiser. This year’s campaign is especially meaningful, as MDA celebrates 75 years of impact.
For Matt, MDA’s mission is personal.

“I was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA), a form of Muscular Dystrophy, when I was 2 years old,” Matt shared. “From that moment on, my family and I received support and services from MDA. I attended MDA clinics, summer camp, and even helped fundraise for the organization through the yearly telethon and other events.”

Since 2021, Matt has served on MDA’s Board of Directors, using his voice to advocate for others with neuromuscular diseases. That’s why, when MDA asked him to design this year’s limited-edition t-shirt, it was an easy “yes.”

“The MDA Shamrocks campaign is especially meaningful this year as we celebrate MDA’s 75th anniversary,” Plummer said. “To contribute to such an important campaign during this milestone is an honor. Muscular Dystrophy Association’s efforts have brought us into an era where treatments for spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) and other rare neuromuscular diseases are no longer dreams but realities. As a father and husband living with SMA, I've seen first-hand how MDA’s efforts have advanced research and care, and these advancements mean everything to me.”

The 2025 MDA Shamrocks T-shirt, designed by Matt, is available with a $35 donation at MDA.org/Shamrocks25 while supplies last.
