One student. One big idea. See how Dallas McWilliams is bringing UTPB and the Permian Basin together.
For many students, a college campus becomes a home away from home. At The University of Texas Permian Basin, students like Dallas McWilliams are helping that home feel even more connected to the community beyond campus.
Dallas, President of the Student Government Association (SGA), is leading efforts to strengthen ties between UTPB and the Permian Basin through a brand-new event called Falcon Fest. The event will bring together student clubs, university departments, and local vendors for an afternoon of fun, food, and community connection.
“Our goal for this event is to create more bridges between our campus community and the Odessa-Midland community as well,” Dallas said.
Falcon Fest is just one example of how SGA makes an impact on campus. The association provides a space for students to share their voices, advocate for their peers, and develop leadership skills that extend far beyond graduation.
“SGA has improved my time on campus by providing me with a space to truly delve into my skills as a leader, service member, and in connecting me to the broader campus and community,” Dallas said.
Students who are passionate about leadership, advocacy, and community engagement are encouraged to join SGA. Those interested can email sga@utpb.edu or attend the group’s weekly meetings every Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Library Lecture Hall 2.
Dallas and his team invite all students, faculty, staff, and members of the community to join the celebration at Falcon Fest on Friday, November 22, from 12 to 4 p.m. at the Permian Basin Sports Complex (3033 NE Loop 338 in Odessa).
Come experience the spirit of Falcon pride and see how UTPB students are building a stronger, more connected community.
