Accreditation

The University of Texas Permian Basin (UTPB) is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award associate, baccalaureate, masters, specialist, and doctoral degrees. Degree-granting institutions also may offer credentials such as certificates and diplomas at approved degree levels.   Questions about the University’s accreditation status may be directed in writing to the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges at 1866 Southern Lane, Decatur, GA 30033-4097, by calling (404) 679-4500, or by using information available on SACSCOC’s website (www.sacscoc.org). 

The UTPB Educator Preparation Program is state accredited by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) and nationally accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP).

TEA Accreditation

The UTPB educator preparation program was granted continuing accreditation of all educator certification (licensure) programs in October 2021 from the Texas Education Agency by the action of the State Board for Educator Certification (SBEC). The next TEA site review will be held in Spring 2026.

CAEP Accreditation

The UTPB educator preparation program was granted full accreditation of all educator certification (licensure) programs at both the initial and advanced levels in October 2021 from the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation. The next CAEP site review will be held in Spring 2027.
