Who's ready to graduate?!

The University of Texas Permian Basin is excited to announce that we will have an in-person commencement ceremony for fall 2020 and spring 2021 graduates! While it remains an unusual time due to the global pandemic, the University is committed to an in-person experience. More details about safety protocols during the event will be announced in the coming weeks.

Here's what you need to know:

  • Commencement will be held on Saturday, May 1st at the Midland County Horseshoe Arena & Pavilion.
  • The first ceremony will start at 10:00 am. All fall 2020 and spring 2021 graduates in the College of Arts and Sciences and the College of Health Sciences and Human Performance will be recognized at the morning ceremony.
  • The second ceremony will start at 2:00 pm. All fall 2020 and spring 2021 graduates in the College of Business, College of Education, and College of Engineering will be recognized at the afternoon ceremony.

List of Programs by Ceremony

Tickets:

In previous years, the University has not limited the number of guests who can attend commencement. Unfortunately, this year we must limit the number of guests per graduate due to safety protocols. Each graduate will receive 4 tickets for guests.

Please check for a text message and/or an email for a link to claim your tickets.

If available, additional tickets will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. Please know, we will livestream the ceremony so additional family and friends can watch you walk across the stage!

What's next?

In the coming weeks, graduates will receive text messages and emails with more information about tickets, parking, and what to expect on your big day!  Please do not opt out of the text messages. This will be the best way for the University to communicate with you.

Whether you plan to participate in the ceremony or not, you MUST apply for graduation.

The deadline to apply for Spring 2021 graduation is March 12th

Fall 2020 graduates do not need to reapply for graduation as we already have your application on file.

Spring 2021 degrees will be conferred on May 1st, 2021

Should you have any questions regarding the ceremony, please email graduation@utpb.edu.  If you have any questions regarding your academic eligibility, please contact your academic advisor.
