UT Permian Basin encourages full-time staff to grow professionally and academically. The Employee Education Scholarship helps support that goal by covering the cost of one on-campus course each semester.
What the Scholarship Covers
- Up to 3 credit hours of undergraduate or graduate coursework
- Tuition and mandatory fees for an on-campus course at UTPB
Note: Distance education fees (e.g., for UT TeleCampus courses) are not covered. Graduate-level scholarships may have tax implications—consult your tax advisor.
Who's Eligible
- Full-time, benefits-eligible UTPB employees (40 hours/week)
- Must have completed 12 months of continuous employment
- Must meet admissions and enrollment deadlines
Important Details
- You must earn a “C” or better to remain eligible
- If you withdraw or earn below a “C,” you must successfully complete a course without a scholarship before reapplying
- Course loads should not exceed 6 credit hours per semester and should not affect job performance
Taking Classes During Work Hours
- Requires approval from your department head or designated official
- Must submit a plan for making up time if classes overlap with work hours
- Working on classwork during work hours needs prior approval and may require using vacation or comp time
