You apply. You get accepted. You get $$$. 

As if applying to UT Permian Basin wasn’t easy enough, we also offer plenty of scholarship opportunities. Upon applying as an incoming freshman, an applicant can qualify and be automatically awarded a merit scholarship offered by our Admissions Office – no separate application required! Hard to beat that, right? To be awarded any of these scholarships, we must have on file:

• A completed freshman application, and
• An official high school transcript with a Grade Point Average based on a 4.0 grade scale

The freshman merit scholarship tiers are as followed: 

Falcon Recognition – $1000/year 

• 3.0-3.34 High School Grade Point Average (on a 4.0 scale)

Falcon Achievement – $2000/year 

• 3.35-3.69 High School Grade Point Average (on a 4.0 scale)

Falcon Excellence – $3000/year 

• 3.70-3.89 High School Grade Point Average (on a 4.0 scale)

Falcon Elite – $4000/year 

• 3.90+ High School Grade Point Average (on a 4.0 scale)

The qualifications that we look at are the high school GPA on a 4-point scale. However, even though we are test-optional for admission, an applicant’s SAT and/or ACT score can bump up the scholarship!  

We also offer the Presidential Scholarship, a highly competitive scholarship that requires an application. These scholarships cover full tuition up to 18 hours per semester. 

• Highly competitive SAT or ACT scores
• 4-year Scholarship renewable with requirements
• High School Grade Point Average (on a 4.0 scale) typically placing you in the top 5% of H.S. class
• Resources are limited
• Scholarship Nomination Form is required
• Deadline: February 15^th

We also offer scholarship opportunities for our transfer students! Similar to the freshman merit scholarships, there is no application required for the transfer merit scholarships. They are awarded automatically to qualifying students upon admission.

The transfer merit scholarship tiers and requirements are as follows:

Transfer Recognition Scholarship – $1000 /year 

• 24 hours or more of transferable course work with a 2.5 to 2.99 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale

Transfer Excellence Scholarship – $1750 /year 

• 24 hours or more of transferable course work with a 3.00 to 3.49 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale

Transfer Elite Scholarship – $2500 /year 

• 24 hours or more of transferable college work with a 3.5 or better cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale

What makes our merit scholarships even better? They are renewable every year! Requirements for renewal are that the student maintains a 2.50 GPA and is enrolled in at least 12 credit hours per semester.
