It may seem like a huge deal when you’re at the beginning of your collegiate journey. Dozens of questions are buzzing in your head. Chief among them are probably how do I apply and what do I need to apply? First, you’ll need to know our requirements. You can find these easily here. There’re a few key things to keep in mind, but a big thing is that we’re test optional for the ACT/SAT. It’s not necessary to send us those, but in some circumstances, it may help!
Now that we have an idea on the requirements, we can get to the checklist.
First, we’ll need to create an account with goapplytexas.org, fill out a profile, and then apply to University of Texas Permian Basin. If the website sounds familiar, you may be thinking of applytexas.org. ApplyTexas is the old website that allows acceptance for students looking to come in for Spring 2022. GoApplyTexas is a revamped website meant to be easier to use and caters to students looking to apply to a college or university for the summer 2022 semesters and beyond!
Now that you’ve applied to UTPB, you’ll receive your checklist! Let’s take a look at what each part of a typical incoming freshman’s checklist will look like.
- Application Fee : The fee to apply is $40 and you have multiple avenues to pay. You can pay the fee directly on GoApplyTexas, you can also pay via a check or money order mailed to the UTPB Admissions Office, pay through the uStore on your “myUTPB” Student Portal, or even in person at the UTPB Admissions office.
- Transcript : You don’t have to wait to graduate high school to send us your transcript! After applying, you should contact your high school’s admin office, counselor, or college coordinator to have your official transcript sent to UTPB. A transcript is only official if it’s sent by your high school or is delivered to us in an envelope sealed by your high school. If it’s delivered to us in any other way, it won’t be an official transcript. After graduating from high school, you should then plan to send us your final transcript using any of the listed methods.
- SAT or ACT Test Scores : This is completely optional, but there is certain circumstances where this could greatly benefit you when coming into UTPB. You’ll want to contact a UTPB Freshman Admissions counselor to find out if it can benefit you!
- Meningitis Document : All students, under the age of 22, needs to show evidence that they have received a bacterial meningitis vaccine. The vaccine dose or booster must be during the five-year period preceding and at least 10 days prior to the first day of class or, if you plan to live on campus, prior to the move in date.
- TSI Test Scores : The Texas Success Initiative Test is require to help us at UTPB determine your ability in succeeding in our classes. Specifically, the test covers reading, writing, and math. We want all our students to succeed at UTPB. The TSI test will help in placement within development courses and give you the ability to succeed in college-level courses.
