Whether you’re looking to earn a promotion, change industries, or start your own business, a Master of Business Administration (MBA) can help you achieve your career goals. An MBA prepares students with the knowledge, leadership, and business skills needed to succeed in today’s competitive workforce.
At The University of Texas Permian Basin, students gain expertise in accounting, marketing, analytics, operations management, strategic management, and global business, preparing them to lead in a variety of industries.
What Are The Benefits of an MBA?
An MBA can open new doors in your current industry or help you transition to a new career. Graduates develop leadership, financial, marketing, and analytical skills that are valued across industries, including energy, healthcare, finance, government, and nonprofit organizations.
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) states that those who hold a master’s degree earn nearly 20% more than those with a bachelor’s degree alone. MBA Schools reports that MBA graduates earn approximately 75% more than bachelor’s degree holders at a comparable career stage.
UTPB graduates are spotted in many careers, including operations, marketing, business analytics, and accounting and leadership roles across multiple industries.
Who Should Consider an MBA?
The MBA program is ideal for undergraduate degree holders looking to accelerate their careers, early-career professionals seeking advancement, mid-career professionals interested in changing industries, and entrepreneurs looking to grow their business. It is also a valuable option for professionals working in nonprofit organizations or government agencies who want to strengthen their leadership and business knowledge.

Flexible MBA Options: Online vs. In-Person
UTPB makes it easy to earn your degree from anywhere, no matter your stage of life. The curriculum and program structure are the same whether students choose the online or in-person format. Because of UTPB’s accrediting body, Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (AACSB), both options provide the same high-quality education.
“The majority of our students are working professionals, many from the energy industry. The flexibility helps them complete the program at their own pace,” Anshu Saran, Director of Graduate Programs for the MBA, said. “The pay-as-you-go is another positive aspect for these students.”
Which MBA Specialization is Right for You?
UTPB offers multiple pathways to help students tailor their MBA to their career goals. In addition to the traditional MBA, Falcons can choose an emphasis in:
- Accounting
- Analytics
- Marketing
- Finance
- Energy Business
- International Business
- Healthcare
Students can explore each specialization on the UTPB website to determine which best fits their interests and career aspirations.
What is the Average MBA Salary?
According to MBA Schools, the median base salary for MBA graduates in the United States sits near $125,000 annually, though salaries vary based on industry, experience, and location. Graduates entering the workforce without prior experience may start closer to $80,000, while experienced professionals working in industries such as investment banking or technology can earn more than $200,000 in first-year total compensation.
MBA Schools also reports that 92% of companies plan to hire MBA graduates.
How Much Time Does It Take to get an MBA?
Most Falcons complete the program in 12 to 36 months. Completion time depends on work schedules, personal life circumstances, and the number of courses a student chooses to take each semester.
“Most students want to move fast, but it is wise to start with one course per 8-week semester, and get an understanding of the level of commitment the program requires,” Saran said.
