Chad Vanderford Memorial Scholarship

Just before the 2017 academic year, Associate Professor of History Chad Vanderford tragically passed away. In memory of Chad, his family, friends, and colleagues formed the Chad Vanderford Memorial Scholarship to honor his spirit and deep commitment to his students.

The ideal candidate for the Chad Vanderford Memorial Scholarship:

• Is a history major at UT Permian Basin
• Has achieved at least sophomore standing by the time of the scholarship application
• Has a minimum 3.0 grade point average
• Has demonstrated an interest in American history
• Has demonstrated excellence in the classroom and leadership beyond

Application Process

• One-page personal statement expressing the applicant’s interest in history and qualifications for the Chad Vanderford Memorial Scholarship
• Cover page that includes the applicant’s:
  • Full name
  • Contact information—including mailing address, phone number, and email address
  • Declaration of the applicant’s year of academic standing (e.g., sophomore, junior, senior, etc.)
  • Student’s major and minor
  • Approximate GPA
