The J. Conrad Dunagan Library is here to support your academic journey with a wide range of services and resources. Whether you need access to technology, a quiet place to study, assistance with research, or a space to collaborate, we've got you covered.
The Access Services provides customer service to library patrons. They strive to meet the informational needs of the library patrons through the resources and services they provide.
Checkout and Check-in Library Resources
- Valid ID is required to borrow library resources
- Patrons may check out books, DVDs, CDs, hotspots, laptops, scientific calculators, esports kits, course reserves, interlibrary loan, or diagnostic kits.
- Check out, renew, or return a study room or study carrel key.
- Borrowed library resources may be returned to the library or to book drop boxes located in the library and the Mesa Building.
- Laptops and hotspots must not be returned in the book drops. You will be responsible for damages sustained or total replacement costs.
Renew library items
- Checked out library materials will need to be renewed on or before their due dates.
- Renewal can be done by phone, in person at the Access Services Desk, or by email.
- Overdue resources and items placed on hold by other patrons will not be renewed and must be returned.
- ILL allows our library to borrow resources not available in our library from other institutions.
- Before requesting a library resource, check in FalconFinder or our databases to make sure we do not already have what you need.
- To request a resource, fill out the interlibrary loan request form on the library website under “Resources.”
- ILL loans may be picked up at the Access Services Desk after you receive a notification. Articles will be delivered as a PDF file by email for download (articles do not need to be returned).

Course Reserves
- Course Reserves is a collection of resources selected and placed on reserve by faculty.
- Faculty may complete the Course Reserves Form on the library forms page and submit it to the library to place materials on reserve.
- Students may check out Course Reserves materials by presenting their student ID, following the specified loan periods.
- UTPB Library grants borrowing privileges to patrons of other institutions or libraries who present their TexShare card from their home libraries or institutions. Visit TexShare Card program, UTPB Library grants borrowing privileges to patrons of other institutions or libraries who present TexShare cards from their home institutions or libraries.
- UTPB distance students can apply for a TexShare card by filling out an application (TexShare Card Application). Upon receipt of your application, the library staff will verify that you are a UTPB affiliate in good standing and will send your card to the mailing address you provided on your application.
- TexShare cards are valid for one semester.

Campus Wi-Fi
- Wi-fi is available in the library and across campus. Use Falcon ID and password to connect to the wi-fi network “eduroam.”
- Guests and visitors will need to connect to the “Guest” network by following the link prompts. A confirmation code will be sent to the user’s email or phone.
Computer Use
- Desktop computers are available on both floors for students, faculty, and staff to use.
Public Use Computers
- Two computers are available on the second floor with open access for community patrons.
- No printing, but saving to a USB flash drive is available.
Laptop and Hotspot Lending
- Students may choose to borrow semester-long or three-day laptops.
- Three-day laptops may be renewed up to two times.
- Hotspots are also available for semester-long or 7-day loans.
- Laptops and hotspots cannot be borrowed between semesters.
- Borrowers will need to fill out the Library Equipment Lending User Agreement Form.
Printing, Scanning, and Copying
- Students, faculty, and staff may print wirelessly on their laptops or mobile devices.
- To print wirelessly, log into PaperCut with your Falcon ID and password at https://papercut.utpb.edu:9192/user. Choose “WebPrint” from the side navigator and follow the steps to release your work.
- Our ScannX scan station is available for scanning to your drive or email.
- Printers are available on both floors.
ADA Accessibility and Equipment Availability
- Multiple study tables and computer stations are wheelchair accessible.
- Computer equipped with JAWS text-to-voice software and ZoomText magnifying software on the second floor.
- MagniSight station for the visually impaired to view print materials.

Graduate and Undergraduate Study Carrels
- Students needing to check out group study rooms should stop by the Access Service Desk. Student ID is required.
- Undergraduates may use study rooms or individual study carrels. Keys must be renewed every 2 hours, provided there is no waiting list.
- Graduate students may use study rooms or request a study carrel key for the entire semester. Study room keys must be renewed every 2 hours, provided there is no waiting list.

Study Spaces
- First-floor: Open collaborative space available to all library patrons.
- Group study rooms are available for 2 hours and may be renewed in 2-hour increments as long as there is no waiting list.
- Second floor: The study space is designated as a quiet study area.
