It Really Is That Simple
No separate scholarship application required
You May Qualify If You:
- Are Admitted to UTPB
- Are a Texas Resident
- Are a degree seeking student that hasn't completed an Undergraduate Degree
- Have a Family Adjusted Gross Income of $100,000 or less*
*For dependent students, we use the parent's AGI and, if applicable, the AGI of the parent's spouse.
For independent students, we use student's AGI and, if applicable, the AGI of the student's spouse.
Important Deadline
Complete All Required Steps By June 1
To be considered for Falcon Free, students must:
✓ Submit FAFSA or TASFA
✓ Complete all student portal requirements
✓ Accept financial aid award
✓ Register for orientation (Newly admitted students) or
✓ Enroll full-time (12+ hrs. Returning Students)
Students who miss the June 1 deadline may lose eligibility.
Falcon Free Is Reviewed Each Year
Falcon Free funding is awarded at the beginning of each academic year and applies to both the Fall and Spring semesters.
Because Falcon Free is an annual program, students must continue meeting eligibility requirements each year to renew funding.
Funding is not available for summer enrollment.
Keeping Your Falcon Free Eligibility
To continue receiving Falcon Free funding each academic year, students must meet the following requirements.
Students Must:
✓ Maintain full-time enrollment each semester through the census date
✓ Continue meeting all initial eligibility requirements annually
✓ Successfully complete at least 24 credit hours each academic year
✓ Maintain satisfactory academic progress
✓ Earn a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher
Funding Timeline
Falcon Free funding may be awarded for up to four years or eight semesters.
Most undergraduate degrees can be completed within this timeframe when students successfully complete at least 30 credit hours per academic year.
Need Additional Time?
Some degree programs require additional coursework or longer completion timelines.
Students who need additional semesters may submit an appeal for continued funding consideration.
