Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Communication

Degree Requirements

  • Students are required to complete 120 semester credit hours.
  • At least 30 semester credit hours must be taken at UT Permian Basin.
  • All required and elective courses must be completed with a grade of "C-" or better.

Bachelor of Arts in Communication Requirements

  • Students are required to complete at least 39 semester credit hours of Communication specific courses, plus a minor and additional electives. 
  • Students must complete Communication Core courses that include:
    • COMM 1301 Introduction to the Study of Communication
    • COMM 1315 Introduction to Public Speaking
    • COMM 1318 Interpersonal Communication or COMM 2333 Small Group Communication
    • COMM 3300 Theories of Communication
    • COMM 3310 Modern Media in Society
    • COMM 3330 Rhetoric in Western Thought
    • COMM 3370 Research Methods
    • COMM 4390 Senior Seminar in Communication
